WHAT IS THIS TEAM?
This is a cross country development club. We focus on training a preparing riders for racing cross country mountain biking in the Spring, Summer, and into the Fall.

The bulk of what we will do in terms of practices and training will be in the Winter and Spring. During the Summer, it is anticipated that you will primarily join and train on a NICA team. However, there will be some additional rides, activities, and races that we will support and help riders with during that core Summer season.

WHO CAN JOIN?
This team is open to anyone who has previous MTB racing experience (at least one year) either in NICA, or otherwise, and is going into the 8th grade or above in the Fall of 2023. We hope you join us!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
This club is FREE to join.

WHEN ARE PRACTICES?
During winter months, how much and what we do for practice will depend on weather, but generally because of lack of evening light, practices are on Saturday mornings. We will release our schedule as we get it put together.

Our training focus contains four main elements:
  1. Endurance training
We will spend a good deal of our time together doing endurance training. This entails long, base mile rides at low intensity. About 80 percent of our training will be based on this type of training.

  2. Strength training
It is critical for progression that riders increase their strength through strength training. This helps build power and power endurance. We will provide opportunities to do some of this together, but largely this will be done on your own at home or in a gym.

  3. Skills Development
This area of training is highly underrated and can provide a huge return for the effort. This is an area of great opportunity for most riders, so we will spend

  4. Speed Training
Speed training will come in the form of intensity workouts. About 20 percent of what we do will include some form of intensity workout, such as intervals, sprints, hill climbs, or other. Some will be done as a group in practices, other will be done on your own with our training plan.
